Making 'Alice in Wonderland' Shoes.

I've made 'Alice in Wonderland' shoes before that I have been pretty darn happy with, but I have come along such a very long way as both a designer and shoe maker since that last attempt, and the theme of Wonderland hasn't gotten old for me.
I was asked by a blushing bride-to-be to create a pair of low height, comfortable court shoes, themed in 'Alice'. Naturally I was more than happy to oblige and also wanted to see what I could come up with compared to the last attempt. For my initial design sketch, in all honesty I wasn't a whole lot different to the first set of ideas I had. I included key elements such a roses, playing cards, miniature tea cups, clocks and so on. You know, the items one generally lists when they think of 'Wonderland'. The key difference was the execution.
Like I said, I've come a long way. I used very different techniques for this creation and also made 90% of the components myself (I didn't make the playing cards or the tea cups) and I was also able to put some of my embellishment work to the test this time around.

I've been experimenting with different embellishment techniques to incorporate into my designs lately. Items such as hand crafted silk roses, leather tassels, hand stitched bows and so on. I loved having the opportunity to incorporate some ribbon roses into this creation.

Here's a look at the finished product. I hope you like them.
Till the next time.
Lots of love, Frankie xx
